A Place of Warmth @Zion UCC
Place of Warmth at Zion seeks to provide a safe and warm place on nights of extreme cold for homeless men that live outdoors.
A Place of Warmth is planning to operate this coming Winter for their 4th season. They are looking to hire one or more individuals to serve 12-hour shifts as an “Overnight Monitor” each night they are open. This is a paid position and individuals hired willl receive training by A Place of Warmth and the Delaware Police Department. Background check required. There is still a need for volunteers for shifts and police officers will be present during intake.
Volunteers can help by volunteering for shifts during the coldest nights of winter. 2 shifts available, 8 pm – 2 am and 2 am – 8 am.
The center will open at Zion United Church of Christ when temperatures drop below 20°F.
- Required training for new volunteers and refresher with updates for past volunteers.
- Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
- Monetary donations may be through the Andrews House, fiscal agent for this project.
