Boardman Arts Park
Delaware City Schools, with the support of the Delaware City Council, has generously given permission to the Northwest Neighborhood Association to test the idea of an Arts Park in the Boardman Field location on West William Street. During the this trial period, use and receptivity to the park by the community will be studied and a recommendation about the future of the park will be made to the Delaware City Council.
The Northwest Neighborhood Association has embraced this wonderful opportunity to develop the 2.2 acre green space as part of the art and cultural corridor that extends from the Monnett Gardens to the Delaware County Library.
Art that brings permanent, temporary and/or natural art and play will be a part of the exhibit space. They are working on developing dynamic art structures and seeking leadership for a yarn art installation. This idea of yarn bomb or a yarn storm will incorporate knitting or crocheting yarn into colorful displays at the park.
When the weather breaks there are piles of dirt that need spread, fencing needs refastened and the inside of the bathroom walls need painted. Great opportunity for groups.
They are also looking for ideas for bi-weekly events at the park too: group painting, sculpturing, yoga, tai chi, kite building, birdhouse building, old-time field games, small performances such as puppets, acting, and music.
