Railroad Safety Task Force

Delaware County Railroad Safety Task Force

Help make Delaware County safer by spreading the message of railroad crossing safety.

The task force, established by Delaware County commissioners in 1998, is dedicated to improving the safety of communities near railroad tracks and at railroad crossings in Delaware County.

They provide free safety presentations to groups, especially children about railroad safety. They speak at school safety days, speak to driving groups such as school bus drivers and SourcePoint Meals on Wheels drivers. They also do community outreach at safety events, touch-a-truck events and fairs. An interest in trains and the railroad is helpful as is an interest in working with kids and safety.

As a volunteer for the Task Force you will be asked to attend a monthly meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and help staff the events the Task Force has been invited to. The August, October and December meetings will be held at the County Engineers Offices at 1:30 pm, the September and November meetings will be at the Delaware Main Library at 7:30 pm.  They are alternating evening and afternoon meetings to accomodate busy schedules.  If you can only attend evening meetings, or only the afternoon ones, you are still welcome to join the Task Force.
