LSS Delaware Food Pantry
A New Way to Provide Quality, Dignified Service
Clients of LSS are now ordering the food they need via a website. They are able to choose the food they need on a monthly basis. The food will be delivered to clients at a pickup location of their choosing in strategically identified neighborhoods. Delaware food distribution is at their London Road facility as well as Delaware County mobile locations.
Volunteers are needed at the Delaware location in three different ways.
They have a high need for Help Desk volunteers. These volunteers help clients place food orders and navigate the new online ordering system, answer questions about the system and collect feedback from clients to ensure the quality of services. Volunteers should have basic phone and computer skills, great listening and communication skills, a compassionate heart and a desire to help others. Training is required and volunteers are asked to commit to recurring volunteer shifts. Monday – Friday, 10 am – 12 pm or 12 pm – 2 pm. Individuals and small groups, age 18 and older, are eligible to volunteer for this position.
Volunteers can help in the warehouse preparing orders for distribution throughout Central Ohio. The will also help process incoming food deliveries and food donations from area partners. This opportunity is more physical in nature and some volunteers should also be able to lift up to 50 pounds. All volunteers should be age 12 and older (with a responsible adult) and comfortable working in a warehouse atmosphere. Monday – Friday, 10 am – 4 pm.
Pantry distribution at the Delaware location will be Tuesday & Thursday, 11 am – 3 pm and also Tuesday 4 pm – 7 pm. Volunteers will help clients check, assemble client food orders and help clients shop for perishable food items.
