Connections Volunteer Center coordinated volunteers for  the 13th Annual Delaware County’s Suicide Prevention Coalition Walk  held on Saturday, September 14.

The Delaware County Suicide Prevention Coalition along with area organizations including Helpline, NAMI, Stockhands for Healing, Delaware Pride and more were set up on the Ohio Wesleyan campus to provide information to walkers. There were art activities that included making posters, planting seeds of hope, and an opportunity to leave special hearts around town. There was a gift basket raffle and a crepe food truck.

Local suicide prevention educators shared inspiration with stories of survivorship. Families who had lost loved ones gathered to remember and prevent future losses. It was a day of hope to keep others from experiencing a loss.

More than 200 people walked through Delaware and OWU’s campus as the city was full of farmer’s market attendees and students. The impact of the event created awareness in the community.  The day focused on suicide prevention by sharing resources to help those in need of mental health support.
