A Clinicians Guide to Ethical Issues
in Working with Older/Disabled Adults and their Families

WEBINAR TO BE ANNOUNCED

Purpose:

Those working with older adults and their families can face dilemmas in which decisions are not clear-cut and may lead to unexpected consequences.  Some of these dilemmas have ethical dimensions to them and professionals need to consider not only their personal values but also their professional ethical standards in making decisions.

Learning objectives: By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able:

  • To identify the kinds of ethical dilemmas common in interacting with older adults and their families.
  • To describe the ethical theories as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
  • To compare and contrast the professional standards of various licensed professions(Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Long Term Care Administration).
  • To identify issues for each participant to consider as he/she develops a personal framework for making ethical decisions in everyday work with older clients.
