Common Ground Free Store

The store is located in Delaware City and provides free clothing and household items to people in the community.  They also serve a free meal to all shoppers.

Especially with this cold weather, it’s imperative that our community has this warm place for folks to come and get a hot meal, and coats/hats/gloves/clothes to help them get through!

Volunteer shifts are 5:30-9:00p on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9:30a-1:00p on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you want to bring food, it needs to be brought in either at 5:15p on Tues/Thurs or 9:15a Wed/Sat…or you can bring food when the store is open that they can freeze to use when there are not any food providers.  If you are committing to 1 food provider slot, please plan to bring approximately 35-40 servings of food.

Volunteers sought to come in when the store is not open to clients to sort, organize, do some admin work and receive donations Thursdays 10 am – 1 pm.

Can you/your family/church group, etc help?

Miracle on William Street

A shopping event for families to assist providing Christmas gifts for their children.

This year’s event is on Saturday, December 7, 2019 starting at 8:45 am. Shoppers check in and head through Santa’s workshop for a free photo, and then on into the activity room to enjoy live music, crafts, games, cupcake decorating, and refreshments until it’s their turn to shop!

A special gift room will be set up where the kids who come along can pick out gifts for the grown-ups at home! Volunteers hang out with the little-ones while the adults shop, help them find just the right present, and get it wrapped!

Miracle on William Street will conclude at 3:00 pm on December 7th. A variety of volunteer opportunities will be available from decorating and set up, helping run the event, and clean-up. Due to the overwhelming amount of interest in the event, any groups will need to be limited to 10 people to allow room for others to volunteer as well. Volunteer opportunities are on Friday Dec. 6th from 5:00 pm until  set up is done. Saturday Dec. 7th from 8:30 am-12:15 pm to run the event and Saturday Dec. 7th from 12:30 pm-5:00 pm to run the event and clean up/return remaining items to the Free Store

Can’t volunteer but want to help? You can get gift tags to shop for the gifts they need at the event. Donuts, juice, cookies, and punch are welcome to provide refreshments! Help with gift bags and tissue paper so the elves can get through wrapping in a timely manner. They are also looking for a family or group who would like to host a game or activity for the kids to do while they are waiting for the adults. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to share them!
