Delaware County Backpack Program

This program seeks to consolidate three existing weekend food backpack programs into one unified effort to feed Delaware City Schools and Buckeye Valley Schools students who qualify for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program. Bags will be provided on the last day of each school week with enough food to feed the family of each student enrolled in the program. Families will be able to elect to enroll in the program. The DCBP projects to consistently serve 380 families each week throughout both districts.

Contrary to popular belief, Delaware County is still a high need area! In fact, many families rely on Free and Reduced Lunches to feed their kids, and therefore they struggle on the weekends when school is not in session. This backpack program will address this weekend service gap.
With this huge expansion they do need help packing the bags of food. The food will be held at the LSS Food Pantry on London Rd. Volunteers are needed to pack the bags every Tuesday evening from 5:45pm to 7pm. Each packing session requires only about 7 or 8 volunteers.
