Delaware County Historical Society

Docents:  Do you have a few hours a month on Sunday afternoons? Docents greet visitors and help guide them through Meeker Homestead Museum. Meeker Homestead is over 200 years old and was home to some of Delaware County’s first citizens. Orientation is provided and you will be teamed up with experienced volunteers.

The Historian:  Utilize your publishing and/or writing skills to help design and publish their twice a year newsletter, The Historian.  If you know about newsletter design, and you can layout the newsletters. Or, if you like writing, you can write as many articles as you like for the Historian.  The Historian is a multi-page publication that mixes Delaware County historical articles with the activities of the Delaware County Historical Society.

Office Assistant:  If you like a lively environment with ever-changing projects, then the Office Assistant position is made for you. Their Executive Director has a variety of projects with which she needs assistance This volunteer will be a key person in helping our office run smoothly. Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred and some knowledge of basic fiscal management is a plus. Flexible schedule, about 2 days a week, no more than 8 hours total.

Social Media Expert: Do you like to post on Twitter or Instagram or Pinterest or other social medias beyond Facebook? Do you like to share information on-line?  If so, consider becoming a Social Media Expert.  Set up accounts, monitor and communicate in a manner that is engaging as well as informative.

Barn Event Reporter:  Compose and publish articles and photos on-line about events at The Barn at Stratford. Events are primarily weddings, but include corporate events and other special occasions. Reporter will gather the information and take appropriate photographs of the events. Post articles on their WordPress website and social media such as Facebook. Reporter will work closing with the Venue Manager and the Barn webmaster.
