LSS Delaware Food Pantry
Clients of LSS order the food they need via an on-line ordering system. The food is then delivered to clients at a pantry distribution site of their choosing. The Delaware London Road facility is a food warehouse distribution site and a food pantry distribution site.
Volunteers are needed at the Delaware location in several different ways.
In the warehouse on London Road you can help process incoming food deliveries and food donations. Individuals, families and groups can help in 2-4 hours shifts on weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm, adults and adults and children 12 and older (with an adult) are welcome.
Help Desk Volunteers help clients place food orders and navigate the online ordering system. Volunteers 18 and older need basic phone and computer skills, listening and communication skills plus a compassionate heart. Training is required and you will be asked to commit to a recurring volunteer shift either 10 am to 12 pm or 12 to 2 pm on weekdays.
Pantry Distribution Site volunteers help set up and tear down pantry distribution sites, assemble food orders and help clients shop for perishable food items. Individuals and groups of up to 16 people (age 12 and older with a responsible adult.) Tuesdays 12 to 2pm or 5 – 7 pm and Thursday 12 – 2 pm.
Client Check-In Volunteers greet clients and use PantryTrak software to check them in. Volunteers (age 18 and older) should have basic computer skills, great communication skills and a desire to help others. Training is required and you will be asked to commit to a recurring volunteer shift. Tuesdays 12 to 2pm or 5 – 7 pm and Thursday 12 – 2 pm.
