Make A Difference Delaware County provides an opportunity for people of all ages to take part in the county’s largest single-day of volunteering. No matter who you are or your abilities, everyone has the power to do something that improves the life of another.

Delaware County’s inter-generational Make A Difference Delaware County event is open to everyone.  It is the perfect occasion for individuals, families, and small groups of all ages to volunteer to help an older adult with outdoor chores.

Connections is planning for this year’s event to be a socially distanced and safe event. There will be no large group gatherings. Volunteers will be assigned to one older adult’s property in groups of 10 or less. One volunteer from each group/family registered will pick up a volunteer packet and leaf bags during the week prior to the event in either Delaware City or Sunbury.

Volunteers will go directly to their assigned older adult’s home at 9:00 am to to do outdoor chores. Older adults will be asked to remain inside their homes. Volunteers are not permitted to enter the older adults homes. This is our standard practice, but more important than ever.

At noon volunteers will return to a central location to drive through and drop off the paperwork.

All volunteers are requested to bring their own tools and gloves. Volunteers should also bring their own drinks and/or snacks if needed. For volunteers that do not have tools, we have a limited supply of rakes that can be loaned out. All tools will be sanitized before being loaned and upon return.

Volunteers are asked to take preventative actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory illness, such as COVID-19. This includes such things as:

  • Cleaning your hands often.

  • Staying home if you are sick, have a fever, or experiencing symptoms.

  • Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of your elbow.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting any borrowed tools.

  • Using a face covering – this is required when speaking with an older adult regarding the chores. One will be provided if you do not have one.

  • Maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet apart while volunteering.

Registration has been closed early due to the wonderful response by volunteers.

ALL volunteer slots have been filled.
