The Shane Center
Their mission is to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through innovative equestrian activities. Therapeutic horsemanship provides benefits in the areas of therapy, education, sport, and recreation. The active participation required by riding a horse allows people to extend their dreams beyond the confines of their disability.
Volunteers are needed to support this mission. Each client needs two volunteers per ride – one to lead and one to walk along side and assist. This is an 8 week commitment of about 1.5 hours per time. There are also barn chores and trail maintenance to help with for small group participation.
Lesson volunteers must be at least 14 years old and barn chore volunteers must be at least 10 with adult supervision. Volunteer training required.
