Volunteers are needed to assist with Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels driver: Most of the open routes just need filled for the winter. There are routes open on Tuesdays and Thursdays currently, but more routes come open all the time. The time frame is about 10:30am-12:30pm. They offer mileage reimbursement and a free lunch. We are practicing “no contact” delivery.
Kitchen assistant: a volunteer is needed on Tuesdays or Thursdays from about 8:00-11am primarily to pack meals into trays. It requires being able to stand most of the time. It’s fun and fast and you work with a great team and lunch is included. Everyone wears masks but social distancing has its challenges in the space.
Meals on Wheels packers: volunteers help pack up coolers from 8:15-11:15am Monday through Friday. We need a volunteer packer on Mondays or Fridays. Lunch included.
Birthday cards: we need artsy people to make birthday cards at home for homebound seniors.
SourcePoint provides community support for older adults with in-home care services such as Meals on Wheels, help with chores, and transportation to medical appointments, as well as resources and support for family caregivers. They are a source for both fun and fitness for older adults. SourcePoint was founded by volunteers, and they continue to remain a vital key to their success. Volunteers are welcome to get involved, whether for just one day, or for an ongoing experience.
Medical Transportation Drivers: Give homebound seniors a friendly ride to medical appointments and back home. Mileage reimbursement from your home and back is provided.
Fitness Room Attendant: A volunteer is needed to monitor the fitness area on Fridays from 3-5pm. Good sit down job or use the space while you keep an eye on it. CRP training is provided.
Meals On Wheels: Deliver hot nutritious lunches to seniors once a week and enjoy building relationships. Routes go out Mondays-Fridays from about 10:30am-12:30pm. Mileage reimbursement and free lunch are provided.
Home Chores: Volunteers assist seniors with chores inside or outside of a senior’s home. The volunteers choose from a list of requests the chores that match their skill set; could be anything from caulking windows to planting flowers to a lesson on iPhone usage.
Caregiver Relief Companion: Get matched with a family to provide friendly visits with a homebound senior while the caregiver takes a much needed break. Flexible schedule, no personal care duties, just your time.
Volunteers must be age 18 or above, or accompanied by an adult.
