Purpose:
In addition to developing practical self-care techniques, this training will explore evidence-based strategies for recognizing, addressing, and preventing secondary trauma. This training will offer the tools and frameworks needed to identify signs of secondary trauma early, both in oneself and in colleagues, and to create a supportive work environment where the mental and emotional well-being of social workers and helping professionals is prioritized.
Learning Objectives:
  • Look at collective wellness in this work holistically at three levels of interaction: individual, organizational, and systematic
  • Explore the essential skills and awareness needed to full-heartedly do difficult work
  • Find inspiration and connection from those who have served during difficult times
  • Continually evaluate how we show up for those experiencing/or having experienced trauma or struggles

About the Presenter(s):

Marian Stuckey, LISW-S, MBA

Marian Stuckey is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory status with over
15 years of experience working in the public and mental health and wellness fields. Marian
is passionate about working with diverse groups of people and has served many years in
underserved communities and uplifting opportunities for healing. Marian currently serves
as the Administrator for Neighborhood Social Services within Columbus Public Health and
is the owner of MindShift Counseling and Consulting a small business focusing on therapy,
consulting, and training.

 This continuing education training is rooted in a deep commitment to improving personal well-being and preventing burnout while enhancing the quality of care provided to clients. By gaining a better understanding of secondary trauma and learning how to incorporate effective self-care strategies into daily practice, this training  aims to cultivate resilience and emotional health as a critical aspect of providing sustainable, compassionate care to clients.
