Why Do We in the Helping Professions Fall Tragically Short of Helping Ourselves?

Purpose:
While we in the helping professions are passionate about helping others, we often put ourselves last, which can have serious consequences. There are plenty of workshops about self care, but before we can take on new self care practices, we must be aware of and address the barriers within ourselves that get in the way.
Learning Objectives:

Participants will:

  • Gain a better understanding of the self care deficits in the those who work in the helping professions (why we don’t put our oxygen masks on first)
  • Identify the internal obstacles related to inadequate self-care
  • Define burnout and understand the factors that contribute to it
  • Address concerns from multiple theoretical perspectives, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Apply skills to increase self-awareness and improve self-care techniques
Event Cost:

$45.00

Event Information:

The training will take place in-person on Thursday, April 23, from 9 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at HelpLine, 118 Stover Dr., Suite B, Delaware, OH 43015.
